Cutts And Tutter Lead The Way For Tarr Babies
DTH Redlands Tarr Babies Kieran Tutter and Daniel Cutts both have 100% records in Division Three and are spearheading their teams assault on the Division Three Title. In their latest match both Cutts and Tutter registered their 4th maximum in a row to leave their opponents Stanley Street Cypriots well and truly beaten. Josh Nelson added two wins before the Tarr Babies won the doubles to run out 9-1 winners and moves them 2 points clear at the top of the table but they can now expect some tougher matches against teams around them at the top.
The Tarr Babies club colleagues and title rivals The Rookies could only manage a draw against Stanley Street 'C' and dropped 2 points behind the league leaders with Stanley Street's Andy Kirkland proving to be the thorn in the Rookies side as he beat all the three Rookies players Derek Piper, Cauis Tweed and the previously unbeaten Alan Keeling. Piper and Keeling each beat the Riauba brothers Martynas and Valentinos and when Tweed also beat Valentinos it left the Tarr Babies 5-4 up with just the doubles to play. Piper and Keeling teamed up to take on Kirkland and the third of the Riauba brothers Orestas but despite three close games they couldn't stop the Stanley Street duo from winning in straight sets to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.
Stanley Street 'C' had a better result against joint bottom side Ryton Park Cougars who despite putting in some good performances this season find themselves struggling for points. For Stanley Street Andy Kirkland once again put in a good performance to win all his three games and with both Martynas and Orestas Riauba also remaining unbeaten it only left the doubles rubber to bring any joy for the Cougars which they won in 5 sets to avoid a whitewash finally going down 9-1.
On-Line Elks new signing Jayden Budworth has made an immediate impact in her first two games registering hat trick in both with the first one being a match winning performance against Ryton Park Falcons. Budworth's hat trick was the pivotal performance in a 6-4 win for the Elks with both Sarah Thompson and Glen Gillgrass contributing a win each over Scott Lee with Budworth and Neil Houghton coming together to beat Regan and Nathan Langley in a fabulous 5 set contest.
In her second match Budworth and her team mates had an easier time of it against Stanley Street Rascals running out 9-1 winners, Budworth and Neil Houghton registered hat tricks with Glen Gillgrass managing a double before teaming up with Houghton to win the doubles. The only success for the Rascals came a single win for Ellis Spacey over Gillgrass.
In Division Two 6-4 specialists DTH Redlands X-Youth yet again were involved in a match ending 6-4 but at last, this time they were winning instead of losing! In an entertaining match against Global Marble 'B' X-Youth put in a great performance with both Clive Eden and Jeff Reay gaining two wins each and Mark Bloomer chipping in with a single win over Richard Robinson before Reay and Bloomer added the doubles set to clinch their first win of the season.
Other Division Two Result: Ryton Park Eagles 3 DTH Redlands Joggers7.
Both Global Marble 'A' and MBE of Division One had 10-0 victories this week to keep them in touch with the leaders DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys. MBE swept aside DTH Redlands Roosters to move up into 3rd place with hat tricks for Mark Stanfield, Mick Bell and Andrew Cave and despite a number of close games none of the Roosters trio of Rick Harris, Tom McIntosh and Steve Johnson could manage to register a win. Global Marble's win came against a Stanley Street 'A' side who had Nigel Stent, Dave Hodkin and Alex Millward in their side but again despite some close games they could do nothing as Kerry Harvey, Kalpesh Bhatt and Steve Lyon all remained unbeaten with Harvey and Bhatt teaming up to take the doubles to cement a convincing victory for Global.
