Eagles Start To Climb High In Division Two
Division Two side Ryton Park Eagles have started to move up the Division Two table this week after two good results - one on the table and one off it. In a very tight match against Manton Tigers they had to come back from being 3-1 down to snatch a dramatic draw which at one stage looked very unlikely as Tigers Paul Allison had hit top form, comfortably beating all three Eagles players and with Steve Beeston chipping in with two wins it left the Eagles in the position of only being able to tie the match. For the Eagles Gary Scott managed to beat Beeston and Phil Hall and after both Carl Stones and Keith Swift also beat Hall it came down to the doubles set to decide the outcome of the match. For the Eagles Stones and Swift teamed up against the Tigers duo of Alison and Beeston the game turned out to be a tense 5 set affair with the Eagles just winning 11-8 in the deciding set. All of this meant that the match ended all square and triggered the 5-5 shootout for the extra point on offer. Stones got the Eagles of to a flyer against Hall by putting them ahead 10-3 before Scott and Alison came to the table. Scott carried on where Stones left off and put the Eagles 20-7 in front at the final change over. The Tigers Steve Beeston made a fight of it before Swift finally brought the Eagles home for the extra point by 31-19.
The Eagles claimed maximum points from a match that wasn't played as DTH Redlands Geriatrics fell fowl of rule 7d and didn't manage to play the previously postponed match within the 4 week rule, the three points gained now leave the Eagles in third place in the table with a game in hand over their rivals.
Despite being rooted to the bottom of Division Two Manton Sports continue to fight hard and surely it's just a matter of time before they get their first win of the season. In their latest match they went down 7-3 to Stanley Street 'B' in a game that could have quite easily gone either way with many of the matches going to either 4 or 5 sets. For Manton Sports Alan Wilson battled bravely managing to beat both Father and Son Andy and Jack Kirkland before losing out to Ralph Rodda, Phil Fisher added a further win but Keith Smith couldn't add to the Sports tally and surprisingly went home winless. The Stanley Street trio of the Kirkland's and Rodda all won two games each before Andy Kirkland and Rodda teamed up to take the doubles against Smith and Fisher to complete the scoring.

Division Three
DTH Redlands Rookies managed to keep within touching distance of the leaders in Division Three with a solid win over ever improving club colleagues the Rascals. Bob Atkinson was the mainstay of the Rookies win as he completed a fine hat trick being well supported by Daniel Cutts who won two and John Maher who chipped in with a single win. For the Rascals Liam Stead continued his fine form by beating both Cutts and Maher before Thomas Gladwin also beat Maher with Ellis Spacey missing out on this occasion. Cutts and Maher beat Spacey and Gladwin to take the doubles for the Rookies.
