Fluffy Toys On The Brink Of Retaining First Division Title

After two recent wins DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys are now only one win away from winning the Division One Championship for an incredible 5th year in succession. Although it's still mathematically possible for the Fluffy Toys to be caught they'd have to lose their next 5 matches in a row to be caught and considering they have won all of their 10 League games so far this season, you'd have to be bonkers to bet against them.
There first win came against club colleagues The Roosters who before this game had yet to win a game so far this season and the Fluffy Toys took no time at all in racking up a 9-1 win. For the Toys Richard Wesley maintained his 100% record so far this season as he registered a comfortable hat trick with team captain Steve Walker also winning all his 3 games. The only joy for The Roosters came in the shape of Rick Harris who managed a 5 set win over Peter Cowburn but it was nowhere near enough to give his side a chance of upsetting the odds as both his team mates Tom McIntosh and Steve Johnson both went home empty handed.
The Fluffy Toys continued their relentless charge towards the title with an 8-2 win over Stanley Street 'A' who had no real answer to the Fluffy Toys with both Richard Wesley and Steve Fox winning all their 3 games before Tom Wesley adding a further 2 wins. The only singles success for the Street came when Peter Eyre beat Tom Wesley in straight sets but they did manage to win a 5 set doubles match when Eyre and Alex Millward teamed up to defeat Richard Wesley and Steve Fox to salvage something from the match.
Back to The Roosters now as they managed to win their first match of the season albeit against a depleted Ryton Park Adders side who had to play Alex Olliffe up from Division Two to enable them to field a full side. Tom McIntosh was the man in form for The Roosters as he comfortably beat the Adders trio of Olliffe, Brain Allen and Matt Lemon and he was well supported by Dave Gascoyne who was making a rare appearance as he beat both Olliffe and Allen before being beat by Lemon who also went on to beat Steve Johnson and despite Allen adding a further win over Johnson it wasn't enough to stop the Roosters running out 7-3 win.
Global Marble 'A' continued their recent good run of form this week in their match with MBE who despite having Mark Stanfield bang in form couldn't stop Marble from registering a 7-3 win that saw them leap frog their opponents and go into second place in the table. Despite Stanfield's impressive hat trick All three Marble players in Steve Lyon, Kartik Lakhani and Kalpesh Bhatt all managed to beat the remaining two MBE players  Andrew Cave and Dave Marsh to take an unassailable 6-3 lead before Lyons and Bhatt teamed up to take the doubles to cement their 7-3 win.
Global Marbles 'B' team have also started to run into some form and have started to creep up the Division Two table after winning two games in two nights against different DTH Redlands Teams. First up were X-Youth who were once again on the wrong end of a 6-4 scoreline in a match that really could have gone either way. Rob Vaughan led the way for Marble with a hard fought hat trick and was well supported by Richard Robinson who added a further two wins before losing out to Jeff Reay. Steve Elkin completed the scoring for Marble with a solo win over Clive Eden with Eden and Reay winning the doubles against Elkin and Vaughan.
The night after proved to be no different for Vaughan as he once again remained unbeaten against a Joggers side who at one stage in the season looked like they could offer a real challenge to leaders Stanley Street 'B' but have fell away somewhat recently. Dilip Malkan added two wins for Marble before Ewan Pickersgill chipped in with a solo effort. The scorers for Joggers were Dennis Learad 2 and Matthew Mudd 1with Lewis Comley surprisingly going home empty handed. Vaughan and Pickersgill then teamed up to win the doubles against Mudd and Comley.
