Fluffy Toys Retain Division One Title

DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys have been crowned Division One champions for the fourth season in a row after defeating club colleagues DTH Redlands Roosters. The Toys Steve Walker has captained his team fabulously this season having to work around injury to the current Open Singles Champion  Richard Wesley for several weeks but despite the setbacks the Redlands outfit have had another successful season. They clinched the title with yet another hat trick from Richard Wesley and with Walker adding two wins and one from Tom Wesley the three points they needed to clinch the title never looked in doubt despite resistance from the Roosters Sarah Short. Short played superbly to beat both Walker and Tom Wesley and despite Phil Beresford also beating Tom Wesley it wasn't enough to stop the Toys running out 7-3 winners and making it seven years in succession that a team from Redlands has won the Division One title.

The relegation battle in Division Two looks to be going right down to the wire and in yet another twist bottom side DTH Redlands Morris Men  managed to close the gap to second bottom Manton Sports without even hitting a ball. Their postponed match against Ryton Park Eagles fell fowl of the Four Week rule and they were awarded all three points to now be only one point behind Sports.
On the table both Sports and The Morris Men both lost 7-3 this week, Sports went down to club rivals Manton Tigers whilst the Morris Men lost to DTH Redlands Geriatrics.
At the top of the division the top two teams clashed in a match that looks to have decided where the title will end up. Season long favourites Stanley Street 'A' who have won all their league games this season were given their sternest test yet against a brave DTH Redlands Red Bulls who ran them close before Street 'A' scrambled their way to a 6-4 victory. For Street Peter Eyre continued in much the same way he has all season by winning all of his games and now has a record of played 43 won 43 and on the night his hat trick proved to be the difference between the two sides. For the Red Bulls both Tom McIntosh and Steve Johnson both won two games each both beating Alex Millward and Paul Linfield and despite hoping to carry their good form into the double set they just couldn't get the better of Eyre and Millward to claim what would have been a tremendous draw. Brian Hall was the other player for the Red Bulls but couldn't find his name onto the score sheet on this occasion. The win now puts Stanley Street 'A' 9 points in front with four games remaining.
Other Division Two Results: Stanley Street 'B' 4 Ryton Park Eagles 6, Manton Tigers 2 DTH Redlands Red Bulls 8.
DTH Redlands Cypriots have probably enjoyed a better start to their life in Division Three then they thought they would but have now gone on a bit of a losing streak having now lost their last 4 games on the trot. The first of their latest two losses came against DTH Redlands Rookies and wasn't helped by only being able to field two players as they went down 9-1 with only Adam Hamilton managing to trouble the scorers. In their second game in a week they were able to field a full complement of players but didn't fare any better as they came up against a team in form in Ryton Park Cougars. The Cougars trio of Dave Lee,  Alex Oliffe and Ivan Stalworthy proved too be a little too strong on the night for the Cypriots and all remained unbeaten to register a 10-0 victory which moves the Cougars up into 3rd place in the table.
