Fluffy Toys Show The Way Once Again
DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys have started off this season where they left last season, sitting on top of the pile in Division One. They have now won both of their opening two matches of the new season in emphatic style, winning with ease, both by a 10-0 scoreline. Their opening win saw the sweep aside newly promoted Manton Tigers with Tom McIntosh, Tom Wesley and Peter Cowburn making short work of the Tigers trio of Phil Hall, Paul Allison and Dave Bowns.
Next up for the Toys were Stanley Street 'A' who fielded three players who had come up from Division Two in Jack Kirkland, Matthew Williams and Kyle McIntosh and all three had a very tough start to life in the top division as none of them could trouble the scorers on the night. The Toys trio of Peter Cowburn, Richard Wesley and Steve Johnson all registered comfortable hat tricks with Johnson and Cowburn taking the doubles and despite the new season being only two weeks old it already looks like the rest of the division are playing for the Runners Up spot.
One of the sides chasing the Toys are their club colleagues The Roosters who have also won their opening two games to register maximum points so far this season. Their first win came away at Ryton Park Adders with Dave Gascoyne, Steve Fox and Rick Harris proving too strong for the Adders running out 8-2 winners. Their second win against Stanley Street 'A' was a little less straightforward as they were pushed all the way before just managing to win by the closest of margins 6-4. Steve Fox again remained undefeated with Rick Harris adding two wins before Dave Gascoyne added a vital win over Dave Hodgkin to ensure all three points went to the Roosters. Peter Eyre with 2 and Alex Millward with 1 and the double made up the four games won on the night for Street 'A'.
Both Redlands Joggers and Ryton Park Adders registered their first point of the season as they battled out an entertaining 5-5 draw. The Joggers who had been promoted from Division One last season had both Steve Walker and Lea Dickinson to thank for their share of the spoils as Walker registered a hat trick without dropping a set and Dickinson had goods wins over two players who were both making their debuts in the Worksop League in Gary Sides and Ivan Guilliatt with the match against Sides being a 5 set thriller. For the Adders, both Sides and Guilliatt added solo wins over Lewis Comley with Matt Lemon doing the same before defeating Dickinson in straight sets and then teaming up with Guilliatt to win the doubles and snatch a draw for the Adders.

In Division Three Stanley Streets Rascals made it 2 wins from 2 to remain at the top of the table with a 7-3 win at Ryton Park Falcons with Thomas Gladwin being the top player on the night winning all his three games to set his team on their way to victory. He was well supported by both Harry Downing who won two and Ellis Spacey who chipped in with a single win over Mick Potter. For the Falcons Jordan Potter played well to beat both Spacey and Downing with Jak Eden also finding his form when he also defeated Spacey. Downing and Gladwin teamed up to add the doubles by beating Eden and Jordan Potter.
Just behind the Rascals are Stanley Street 'D' and On-Line Elks who both played each other this week and enjoyed a terrific contest battling out a 5-5 draw. For Street 'D' Andrew Agnew maintained his 100% record with solid wins over all three Elks players Glen Gillgrass, Neil Houghton and Jonno Blood and with Glyn Williams adding a further win over Gillgrass it meant that the match result hinged on the doubles game. For Street 'D' Agnew teamed up with Diesel Webb whilst Houghton and Blood paired up for the Elks. Street 'D' won the first game but the scores were soon level as the Elks too k the next but that was as many as the Elks were going to win as they lost the next two games leaving the match score all level at 5-5. Houghton and Blood with 2 each and Gillgrass with 1 were the scorers for Elks.
Stanley Street 'E' got their season up and running with a narrow 6-4 win over club colleagues The Cypriots and lifted themselves off the bottom of the table. Street 'E's success was down to Matt Turner with three, Tai Chen with 2 and Jasper Turner with 1 which was just enough to register their first win of the season. For the Cypriots Mitchell Radford had a good night beating both Chen and Jasper Turner with Fiona Halpin-Stent also beating Jasper Turner before she teamed up with Harvey Renshaw to take the doubles 3-1.
