It's One Way Traffic As Street Drive On At The Top

Stanley Street 'A' have become the early favourites for the Division Two title after continuing their winning start to the season. Their latest win came against Manton Sports who were always going to struggle against the inform table toppers and try as they might the Sports team of John Lowde, Keith Smith and Alan Wilson could do nothing to stop Stanley Street completing their fourth win in a row. It was regulatory hat tricks all round for Nigel Stent, Peter Eyre and debutant Matt Fowkes with Stent and Fowkes combining to win the doubles to complete the 10-0 rout.
Behind Stanley Street at the top the three teams in the chasing pack all managed to win this week to keep the pressure on in the title race. DTH Redlands Geriatrics are also unbeaten and only 3 points behind with a game in hand after coming through 8-2 in a close match against Manton Tigers, whilst DTH Redlands Red Bulls edged past Stanley Street 'B' by a 7-3 score line.
The closest game involving a team from the chasing pack involved Ryton Park Eagles who just managed to squeeze past DTH Redlands Morris Men 6-4. The Eagles mainly had Gary Scott to thank for their victory as he produced some great table tennis to record a hat trick whilst being well backed up by Keith Swift who managed to win two games before teaming up with Scott to win the doubles to complete the win.
Division One
Probably the surprise team in Division One are Global Marble who have started this campaign off in terrific form and remain unbeaten so far this season. DTH Redlands Outlaws were their latest opponents and there was nothing to choose between the two as they fought out a terrific 5-5 draw. Chris Cattell once again starred for the Outlaws as he battled to win all of his three games with Helmuth Osbourne adding a further win for the Outlaws by beating Globals Terry Curran before joining up with Cattell to win the doubles. For Global Kerry Radford continues to impress and she capped a fine performance by winning two of her matches and only just missing out on winning all three in losing to Cattell in a 5 set thriller. Kartik Lakhani also won two games with Curran adding a solo win on a night were the result could have gone either way.
MBE finally registered their first win of the season with a solid win against Ryton Park Adders who are struggling a little so far this season. For MBE Mark Stanfield was the man in form and comfortably completed an impressive hat trick of wins and also had a hand in winning the doubles set with Mick Bell who surprisingly only managed a solo win against John Hallgarth. Dave Marsh added a further two wins for MBE by beating Hallgarth and Mike Nocivelli. For the Adders, Andy Lee again played well and had good wins over Bell and Marsh as his team went down 7-3.
