Back to league matters and this week saw the potential winners of all three divisions move a step closer to capturing their respective titles with first division DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys making the most significant move of all playing two games in a week. The first of which was against Zygabytes who are the only side that could stop them from defending the title they won last season and who needed to beat the Toys to realistically have any chance of pipping them to the title. The Toys had Richard Wesley back to full fitness after a broken hand and he showed that he was back to his best with a fabulous hat trick which set the Toys on their way but not to be outdone both Joe Zygadlo and Dean Brookes hit back for the Zygabytes with two wins each over Steve Walker and Tom Wesley and with Bob Hume also defeating Tom Wesley the Zygabytes claimed a share of the spoils in a very entertaining 5-5 draw. For the Toys, Steve Walker defeated Bob Hume before teaming up with Richard Wesley to take the doubles in straight sets.
The Fluffy Toys second match this week was a much more straight forward affair with a comfortable win over mid table Global Marble which now puts the Toys 4 points clear at the top of the table. Hat tricks for both Richard Wesley and Steve Walker and two for Tom Wesley made sure of an 8-2 win with the only success on the night for Global coming with a Terry Curran win over Tom Wesley and in the doubles were Curran and Kalpesh Bhatt beat Walker and Richard Wesley.
Division Two leaders Stanley Street 'A' moved a step closer to winning the title and returning back to Division One after only one season. In their match with Manton Tigers Peter Eyre continued his remarkable season with yet another hat trick which now makes it an unbelievable 37 wins out of 37 for the Stanley Street player so far and with Matt Fowkes and Paul Linfield both registering two wins each it gave the Street side a comfortable 8-2 victory. For the Tigers Paul Allison had another fine match registering wins against both Linfield and Fowkes. The win now stretches Stanley Streets 'A' s lead to what looks like an unassailable 6 points.
The Street's nearest rivals TH Redlands Red Bulls were also in action this week and they just managed a win against club colleagues DTH Redlands Morris Men who had two players playing up from the Division below in Matthew Mudd and Lewis Comley and almost snatched an unlikely draw. For the Red Bulls both Tom McIntosh and Steve Johnson won all three of their games each to ensure a 6-4 win and keep within touching distance of the league leaders. For the Morris Men Keith Bloomfield, Mudd and Comley all beat Brian Hall with Mudd and Comley teaming up to take the doubles.
Other Division Two Results: DTH Redlands Geriatrics 8 Stanley Street 'B' 2, Manton Sports 5 Ryton Park Eagles 5.
It's looked for a long time now that DTH Redlands X-Youth would be crowned division three champions and their latest win now means that they are only one more win away from clinching the title. The X-Youth made it 15 wins out of 15 with a 7-3 victory away at Ryton Park Cougars. Both Jeff Reay and Clive Eden remained unbeaten and then teamed up to take the doubles rubber as well. The three wins for the Cougars all came when Alex Oliffe, Ivan Stallworthy and Dave Rix all beat the  improving Jak Eden.
Nearest rivals DTH Redlands Tarr Babies still clung on to the hope of catching X-Youth with a 10-0 whitewashing of DTH Redlands Cypriots. Hat tricks all round for Lewis Comley, Antony Coupe and Jack Tarr with Tarr and Coupe also taking the doubles.
