Rascals Extend Lead At The Top

Stanley Street Rascals managed to extend their lead at the top of Division Three over their nearest rivals by beating one of the teams chasing them in DTH Redlands Tarr Babies. The Rascals have now stretched their lead to a massive 8 points but their latest victims do have two games in hand. Their win over the Tarr Babies was a real team effort as all three Rascals players returned two wins each with all of them losing out to the inform Josh Nelson from the Tarr Babies. Ellis Spacey, Harry Downing and Thomas Gladwin all played well in defeating both Greg Suchalski and Adam Pinches to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and their victory was cemented when Spacey and Gladwin had a great win over Nelson and Jack Tarr in the doubles to make the final score 7-3 to the Rascals.
Ryton Park Falcons who recorded their first league win of the season the last time they played came crashing back down to earth against Stanley Street 'D' as they were on the wrong end of a 10-0 defeat. All three Street 'D' players in Andrew Agnew, Louis Spray and Glyn Williams remained undefeated with only one game not being won in straight sets as Spray beat Brian Hall in a 5 set thriller. Michael Potter and Jak Eden both struggled against the Street trio and their night didn't improve when they teamed up in the doubles only to lose in straight sets to Agnew and Lee Webb.
On-Line Elks have had an indifferent start to their season. After showing some good early form they have now dropped off the pace and find themselves towards the wrong end of the table. Another defeat in their latest match now sees them only one point away from being bottom of the pile. Against Stanley Street Cypriots they started the evening off well when Jonno Blood beat Tom Parker but they didn't win another until the last one of the night when Blood beat Graham Stent. Cypriot's George Makrakis had a fine night in defeating Blood and his two team mates in Neil Houghton and Glen Gillgrass to record his first ever hat trick in the Worksop League with Parker and Stent adding a further two wins along with the doubles set it gave the Cypriots an 8-2 win although the closeness of the games wasn't reflected in the final match score.
Ryton Park Dragons and Stanley Street 'E' were involved in a terrific match that could have easily gone either way but eventually went the way of the Stanley Street side. Matt Turner was the mainstay of their win by dispatching all three Dragons without too much trouble but with his fellow team mates Tai Chen and Tony Turner both losing to Luke Barraclough and Connor Bettley it was left to the all important doubles set to decide the outcome of the match. Barraclough and Lee Banton teamed up for the Dragons with Matt Turner and Chen pairing up for Street 'E'. Street took the first before the Dragons levelled it at 1-1 but that was to be the Dragons last success as they lost the next two games 11-1 and 11-4 to finally slip to a 6-4 defeat.
