Redlands X-Youth Make Excellent Start!

Newcomers DTH Redlands X-Youth continued their impressive start to their first season with yet another win to make it three wins from three games in Division Three. Their latest win came against last year's runners up in DTH Redlands Allsorts for whom it has to be said have a completely different line up from last season. Jeff Reay completed yet another hat trick for X-Youth to remain unbeaten with Matt Turner making his first start of the season also winning all his three games. For the Allsorts the trio of Caius Tweed, Joshua Nelson and Ethan Warner all beat Jak Eden but could do nothing about the doubles set were Matt Turner and Clive Eden teamed up to comfortably beat Warner and Nelson to make the final match score 7-3 to X-Youth.
Hot on the heels of X-Youth are club colleagues the Tarr Babies who had a comprehensive 10-0 win over the ever improving Centre For Sport. Antony Coupe and Alan Keeling comfortably won all their games and although Matthew Mudd also won all of his games he didn't have it all his own way with both Mark and Declan Wilson taking him to the deciding set before finally losing out. The other player for Sport was Sarah Thompson and although she took the Tarr Babies players close in a number of sets she didn't manage to trouble the scorers on this occasion.

Division One
Two of the three teams that were deep in the relegation battle last season came up against each other and yet again were involved in a match that could have gone either way on the night. Ryton Park Adders and Ryton Park Bees fought out  close match that not only had bragging rights at stake but also vital points in the fight to avoid the trap door to Division Two. The top performer on the night was the Bees Joe Else who managed to win all three of his games with his game against the Adders Andy Lee being the stand out game of the evening. Lee was 1-0 up and 2-1 up in the best of 5 sets but Else came back on each occasion to finally take the match into a 5th and deciding set and what a set it was with it going to deuce before Else finally completed the win by 19-17 points! That win was to probably probe the pivotal game of the night as the Bees went on to win 6-4. Else was well supported by Brian Allen who won two and Matthew Lemon who chipped in with a solo win.
DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys had a very narrow escape against a two man MBE side despite being a player short very nearly caused the upset of the season so far. For MBE both Mick Bell and Mark Stanfield won two out of their three games and very nearly snatched a draw before eventually going down by a 6-4 score line. For the Toys debutant Paul Johnson remained unbeaten but with both Steve Walker and Thomas Wesley failing to win a game it was left to Johnson and Walker in the doubles to finally secure the victory.

Division Two
Hot on the heels of Division Two leaders Stanley Street 'A' are DTH Redlands Geriatrics who also are unbeaten this season and are currently 3 points behind but with a game in hand after their win against DTH Redlands Morris Men. For the Geriatrics Dennis Learad and Lea Dickinson proved to be the mainstay of their win, both returning maximums with Amber Zygadlo winning two. The 9-1 score line doesn't reflect the closeness of the match and on another night the Morris Men could have easily snatched a draw. Keith Bloomfield registered the Morris Men's solo win beating Zygadlo but he also gave both Learad and Dickinson close games as did Ewan Pickersgill. Lee Bohan made up the Morris Men's team.
Ryton Park Eagles who will also figure in the promotion battle managed to beat Stanley Street 'B' despite only having two players on the night. Both Carl Stones and Gary Scott completed hat tricks before teaming up in the doubles to take the 3 points and the match 7-3. Street made a fight of it but the trio of Andy and Jack Kirkland and Matthew Williams couldn't quite do enough to stop the Eagles.
