Redlands X-Youth Make It A Perfect Ten
Division Three side DTH Redlands X-Youth have continued their fabulous start to the season by making it ten wins from ten matches and have now stretched their lead at the top to what looks like an unassailable 8 points. The first of their most recent games saw them comfortably dispatch Ryton Park Dragons 7-3 with hat tricks for both Clive Eden and Jeff Reay who then teamed up to take the doubles. The Dragons trio of Justin Flear, Ryan Jarvis and Lee Banton all beat Jack Eden but it was never going to be enough against the title favourites.
The same three X-Youth players then turned out against club colleagues Redlands Rascals with again the exact same outcome! Clive Eden and Jeff Reay again won all their three games and then again teamed up to take the doubles with Jack Eden once again missing out and going home winless. For the Rascals Ellis Spacey, Thomas Gladwin and Liam Stead all beat Jack Eden to again leave the X-Youth side with a 7-3 win.
The nearest challengers to X-Youth are DTH Redlands Tarr Babies who had an absolute hum dinger of a match with Ryton Park Cougars with only 2 games being won in straight sets! The Tarr Babies soon found themselves 2-0 down as Alex Oliffe beat Lewis Comley and then Ivan Stallworthy overcame Matthew Mudd. The Tarr Babies managed to claw it back to level at 2-2 only to find themselves behind yet again when they lost the doubles. Tarr Babies then nudged ahead 4-3 when Antony Coupe beat Oliffe in 5 sets and then Mudd beat Dave Lee in straight sets but back came the Cougars to level the match yet again as Stallworthy beat Coupe 11-8 in the 5th set. With the match poised at 4-4 Comley had a great win over Lee to once again put the Tarr Babies in front and then Mudd just managed to beat Oliffe in a very close and tense decider to snatch a dramatic 6-4 win for the Tarr Babies.

In Division Two Stanley Street 'B' did their A team a bit of a favour in their quest to win the Division Two title by holding one of their main contenders to a 5-5 draw. Ryton Park Eagles who have struggled for players this season had to once again borrow a player from a lower division to field a full team and although Dave Lee dug in he couldn't trouble the scorers on this occasion. However Gary Scott registered an impressive hat trick with Keith Swift adding a single win and then the two of them teamed up to win the doubles to ensure they at least took home a point. For Stanley Street both Jack Kirkland and Matthew Williams had a good night both winning two games with Andy Kirkland chipping in with a single win to gain a share of the spoils.
Whilst their 'B' team were giving them a hand Stanley Street 'A' helped themselves enormously by beating their nearest rivals DTH Redlands Red Bulls 7-3 with Peter Eyre being their main man by winning all his three games with Matt Fowkes adding a further two and Dave Hodgkin chipping n with one. Hodgkin and Eyre then teamed up to win the doubles to put themselves a massive 9 points clear at the top.

Ryton Park Adders won their first league match of the season and in doing so hauled themselves off of the bottom of the table, leapfrogging their club colleagues the Bees. The Adders surprisingly beat high flying Global Marble 6-4 with both Andy Lee and Mike Nocivelli both winning two games each and with John Hallgarth registering his first win of the season the writing was on the wall for an underperforming Global side. Lee and Nocivelli then teamed up to take the doubles and the three points to give themselves real hope of yet again avoiding the drop into Division Two. The scorers for Global were Terry Curran and Steve Lyon who both won two games each.
