Rookies Maintain 100% Record
DTH Redlands continued their winning ways and their perfect start to their Division Three league season with their forth win in a row. Their latest win came against Sparken Hill Blue Jays who came down with the Rookies from Division Two last season and lie the Rookies were hoping to bounce straight back up at the first attempt. Gary Robinson grabbed himself the Man Of The Match award, not only winning all his three singles games but also joining forces with Dave Lyus to win the doubles as well. Robinson impressed as he defeated Ivan Stallworthy, Kathy McIntyre and Dave Rix, all in straight sets and he was well supported by Bob Atkinson who added wins over Rix and Stallworthy with Lyus chipping in with a single win over McIntyre which all culminated in a 7-3 win for the Rookies.
Division Three leaders DTH Redlands Rovers kept themselves on top of the pile with a 9-1 win away at Worksop Welfare Real Deal. Roman Rosser and Adam Pinches both recorded hat tricks with wins over Michael Candy, Tom Ogley and Glen Gillgrass. Keith Bloomfield contributed to the Rovers tally as he defeated both Ogley and Candy but lost out to Gillgrass in a 5 set tussle. Rosser and Pinches combined to take the doubles to complete the scoring against Candy and Jerry Collins. The win now pus them 4 points ahead of the Rookies but they have played two games more.
At the other end of the table DTH Redlands Tarr Babies pulled themselves further away from the bottom as they defeated bottom side Sparken Hill Nightingales 8-2 and have now put a 6 point gap between themselves and the bottom two. For the Tarr Babies both Ethan Shevill and Stefan Mocan hit top form with both players registering a hat trick of wins over Harrison Holland, Charlie Shepherd and Isabella Saul. Anna Mocan also played well as she beat Sauk and Holland before losing out to Shepherd in 5 sets. Another game that went to 5 sets was the doubles with Holland and Shepherd managing to get the better of Shevill and Anna Mocan.
Division Two leaders Worksop Welfare Snipers ‘B’ continued their unstoppable march towards the Division Two title with their seventh win on the bounce as they brushed aside Sparken Hill Eagles 7-3. Stanley Street ‘B’ moved up into second place on sets difference with an 8-2 win away at Worksop Welfare Cannon although 3rd place Manton Sports do have a game in hand on them.
Carlton X-Youth won their second game on the trot as they dispatched Sparken Hill Falcons 7-3 and have now moved up to mid table safety.
DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys are the new leaders in Division One on set difference as they breezed past Clowne ‘B’ 9-1. The team that they have replaced at the top are club colleagues DTH Redlands Monsters who also enjoyed a victory over a Clowne side this week as they just managed to scrape a narrow 6-4 win over Clowne ‘A’. Stanley Street ‘A’ moved into third place as they gave Sparken Hill Starlings a real thumping, whitewashing them 10-0.
