Stanley Street 'B' Get Promotion Push Back On The Right Road

After getting knocked off top spot last week after losing to Ryton Park Eagles, Stanley Street 'B' climbed back up to the summit of Division Two with a narrow victory over DTH Redlands X-Youth. Kyle McIntosh was the hero for Stanley Street as his maximum was the backbone of their victory especially as X-Youth pushed them all the way but for the umpteenth time this season found themselves on the end of a 6-4 defeat. McIntosh was well backed up by Paul Linfield who added a double losing out to Matt Turner in 4 very close sets. Turner also beat Matthew Williams as did Clive Eden and Mark Bloomer to leave the game delicately poised 5-4 in Street's favour going into the doubles. Mcintosh and Linfield paired up to do battle with Eden and Turner and what a battle it was going to 5 sets before the Stanley Street duo finally won it 11-8 in the last set securing all three points.
There was a mixed bag of results for two teams in Division Three as both DTH Redlands Rookies and On-Line Elks both won one and lost one with one of the matches being between the two teams. The Rookies continued their push at the top with a comfortable 8-2 victory which also saw Jayden Budworth lose her 100% record after losing to Alan Keeling. Jayden recovered to beat both Derek Piper and Caius Tweed but that was the only success The Elks had all night as both Reece Blower and debutant Jerry Collins went home empty handed. The Elks however soon got over their disappointment by beating Ryton Park Dragons by the same score line with Jayden Budworth getting back to registering her usual hat tricks as did Neil Houghton. Glen Gillgrass added a further two wins losing out to Justin Flear in straight sets before Flear and Jack Lennon beat Gillgrass and Jerry Collins in the doubles.
The Rookies however fared worse in their second game as they lost a real 'six pointer' with club colleagues and title rivals The Tarr Babies despite another strong performance and  hat trick from Alan Keeling. Both Keeling's team mates Derek Piper and Bob Atkinson could not match his winning streak losing out to all three Tarr Babies Joshua Nelson, Daniel Cutts and Kieran Tutter before Tutter and Cutts won the doubles rubber against Atkinson and Caius Tweed ensuring a 7-3 win for the Tarr Babies leaving them with a one point lead at the top of the table.
Four teams that probably won't have a say in where the Division Three title finally ends up had matches against each other this week. Ryton Park Dragons at home to Stanley Street Rascals were involved in a real ding dong of a contest and must have thought that with a Justin Flear hat trick they were on their way to their first points of the season but despite Lee Banton beating Macauley Bartrop they just couldn't sneak a draw. For The Rascals both Harry Downing and Ellis Spacey won two games each with Bartrop adding another against Jack Lennon before Spacey and Downing took the doubles to register a 6-4 win.
Ryton Park Cougars were involved in a more comfortable game as Ivan Stallworthy and Luke Barraclough remained unbeaten to put them in the driving seat against fellow club members The Falcons. Connor Bettley added two further wins but just missing out on a hat trick losing to the improving Jak Eden who was the only Falcons player to get his name in the wins for column in a 9-1 defeat despite both Scott Lee and Jordan Potter both taking the Cougars trio close.
