Street 'D' On The Right Road To The Division Three Title
Stanley Street 'D' stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games this week in their quest to win the Division Three title and with it promotion to Division Two. With just one match left to play against their arch rivals DTH Redlands Tarr Babies they now know that a draw in that game will be enough to be crowned champions.
Their latest win over Ryton Park Falcons came courtesy of hat tricks for both Andrew Agnew and Lee Webb and a solo win for Diesel Webb over Mick Potter. The Falcons may be bottom of the league but have shown good signs of improvements in the second half of the season which will bode them well for next year. Both Jak Eden and Brian Hall registered wins over Diesel Webb before Agnew and Lee Webb came together to win the doubles in straight sets against Eden and Mick Potter to cement an 8-2 victory.
Both of their closest rivals had wins this week with the Tarr Babies enjoying a narrow hard fought 6-4 victory over Stanley Street Rascals who after this defeat can no longer win the title but as it's that close at the top can still clinch promotion if results go their way. The main man for the Tarr Babies was Josh Nelson who returned yet another hat trick with Greg Suchalski and Adam Pinches adding solo wins over Ellis Spacey before Nelson and Jack Tarr managed to win the doubles to secure the win and three points to go with it.
Stanley Street Cypriots who are also the race for the title also had a good win this week away at On-Line Elks with Mitchell Radford starring for the Cypriots winning all his three games making it 30 out of 36 wins for Mitchell so far this season. Radford was well backed up by Graham Stent who had wins over both Jerry Collins and Glenn Gillgrass but lost out to Jonno Blood. The Cypriots Harvey Renshaw added a single win over Collins before he and Radford beat Blood and Gillgrass in 5 sets to take the doubles and the match 7-3.
The results this week all mean that if the Tarr Babies beat Street 'D' in the last match of the season they could win the title. The Cypriots could also win the title if the Tarr Babies beat Street 'D' and then the Cypriots win their last match by a bigger score than The Tarr Babies beat Street 'D'. However, if the Tarr Babies lose to Street 'D' and the Cypriot lose to the Rascals then the Rascals could still go up!!!

After a few nervous weeks looking over their shoulder Ryton Park Adders finally secured their Division One status for another year after a 9-1 over Manton Tigers who despite finishing bottom of the pile have not disgraced themselves and with a little more luck could have picked up a few more wins than they have. For the Adders both Andy Lee and Ivan Guilliatt remained unbeaten on the night with Gary Sides adding two wins over Bill Bateman and Paul Allison but losing out to Dave Bownes. Lee and Guilliatt then teamed up in the doubles to beat Bateman and Bownes to put the icing on the cake on a win that saves them from the trapdoor into Division Two.
The Adders second result of the week was the complete opposite of their first as they went down 9-1 away to MBE with their only win coming when Andy Lee beat Dave Marsh in a pulsating 5 set game but that was their only joy on the night as Richard Element and Craig Straw comfortably defeated Lee, Ivan Guilliatt and Brian Allen and then teamed up to win the doubles.
Another Division One side still not out of relegation trouble are Stanley Street 'A' who lost out to Manton Misfits who up to a few weeks ago were themselves getting a bit twitchy but after a few good wins have pulled clear of trouble. In a match that was much closer than the scoreline suggests The Misfits ran out 9-1 winners with hat tricks for both Ian Henderson and Terry Emmerson with Kalpesh Bhatt adding two wins losing out to the Street's Alex Millward with Bhatt and Emmerson taking the doubles. Street 'A' should be safe as DTH Redlands Joggers who are the only team that can overhaul them and send them down had to play the Division One Champions this week but even though the result is not yet in, the likelihood of them winning is slimmer than slim!
