X-Youth Claim Division Three Title
The first of the Divisional Titles has been won by DTH Redlands X-Youth in their first season back in the league. After a lengthy absence from the Worksop & District League Captain Clive Eden has marshalled his troops brilliantly to remain unbeaten in the league so far this season with the added bonus of also reaching the final of the MBE Handicap Trophy. In their latest league match against DTH Redlands Dynamos they won the Division Three title in style by hammering them 10-0 to make it an incredible 16 wins from 16 games. Clive Eden, Jeff Reay and Mark Bloomer all registered impressive hat tricks and even the inform Kieran Tutter for the Dynamos could do nothing to halt their progress. On a night dominated by X-Youth Reay and Eden paired up to comfortably take the doubles in straight sets to complete a fabulous night for X-Youth.
Other Division Three Results: DTH Redlands Cypriots 1 DT Redlands Rookies 9, DTH Redlands Dynamos 10 Centre For Sport 0.
In Division Two Manton Sports climbed further away from the relegation trap door by beating bottom side and favourites for the drop DTH Redlands Morris Men. Solid performances from Sports pair of Alan Wilson and Keith Smith who both notched up hat tricks set them on their way to an 8-2 victory with John Lowde adding a single win over Ewan Pickersgill. For the Morris Men both Keith Bloomfield and Kyle McIntosh defeated Lowde who then went on to team up with Smith to win the doubles rubber against Pickersgill and Bloomfield.
Other Division Two Results: Ryton Park Eagles 3 Stanley Street 'A' 7, Ryton Park Eagles 2 DTH Redlands Geriatrics 8.
MBE have had a terrific 2nd half to the season in Division One with their best win coming this week over title chasing Zygabytes. The main in form for MBE was Mark Stanfield who claimed a fabulous hat trick with wins over Dean Brookes, Joe Zygadlo and Bob Hume. Stanfield was well supported by Craig Straw who defeated both Hue and Zygadlo with the win against the latter being a 5 set thriller. Stanfield and Straw then teamed up to claim the doubles against Brookes and Zygadlo to cement a 6-4 win. Scorers for Zygabytes were Brookes 2, Zygadlo 1 and Hume whilst Andrew Cave for MBE failed to trouble the scorers on this occasion.
Whilst Zygabytes title challenge was faltering their rivals DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys were catching up on their games and stretching their lead at the top to 4 points with a 6-4 win against DTH Redlands Joggers and then a 10-0 rout against bottom side Ryton Park Bees. This all means that Fluffy Toys only need to win one of their last two games to yet again win the Division One title.
Other Division One Results: MBE 9 Global Marble 1, DTH Redlands Joggers 2 Zygabytes 8, DTH Redlands Outlaws 6 Ryton Park Adders 4
