X-Youth Make It A Perfect Ten

DTH Redlands X-Youth made it ten wins from  ten in Division Two and their march towards the Division Two title now looks almost unstoppable. The X-Youth side recorded two 9-1 wins within a week which has seen them open up a 6 point gap at the top and with a game in hand on all of their nearest rivals. Their first win came away at Worksop Welfare Snipers 'C' with hat tricks for both Jeff Reay and Matt Turner as both players enjoyed victories over Adam Hamilton, Ralph Rodda and George Makrakis. Clive Eden added also defeated Rodda and Makrakis but couldn't repeat the feat against Hamilton losing in straight sets to the Snipers player. Reay and Turner sealed their win with a  win in the doubles over Hamilton and Makrakis.
The X-Youth's second 9-1 win came over another Worksop Welfare Snipers side as the 'B' team, were swept aside with the same ruthlessness as the 'C' team were. Another Jeff Reay hat trick set them on their way and he was well supported by Clive Eden who went one better than the week before and also recorded a hat trick of wins. The Snipers 'B' side avoided a whitewash when Mark Sansom beat Mark Bloomer but his team mates Chris Tilstone and Ben Swain couldn't quite manage to get their names on the scorecard. The doubles also went the way of the X-Youth side as Eden and Bloomer beat Swain and Sansom in four sets.
The X-Youths nearest rivals dropped further back this week as they could only take a two man team to Manton Sports. DTH Redlands Joggers started the match already 3-0 down and knew they would have to play their best if they were going to get anything out of the match but they ran into an in form James Weston who had good wins over both Kieran Tutter and Matthew Mudd, wins that meant the Manton side would at least get a draw. Neither of Weston's team mates could add to his singles successes as both Richard Robinson and Keith Smith both lost to Mudd and Tutter so it was down to the doubles game to decide the outcome of the match. Incredibly each of the 5 doubles games ended 11-9 to one side or the other and what was even more remarkable was that Smith and Weston lost the first two games 11-9 but then staged a remarkable comeback to win the next three 11-9 to take the all important doubles which meant that Sorts ran out 6-4 winners.

In Division Three Real North Notts 'B' gave DTH Redlands Tarr Babies a real scare before eventually losing a fabulous contest 6-4. For the Real North Notts side Elliot Jordan had a great night on a personal level by beating all three of the Tarr Babies in Roman Rosser, Adam Pinches and Keith Bloomfield to win 3 out of the 4 games for his team with Glen Gillgrass also adding a win over Rosser but alas it wasn't quite enough as Keith Bloomfield 2, Adam Pinches 2 and Roman Rosser 1 along with the doubles just managed to squeeze the Tarr Babies over the winning line.
Worksop Welfare Cypriots 'A' continue to head the Division Three table and they recorded a solid 7-3 win this week over an improving Worksop Owls side. Farhad Saiepour enjoyed yet another hat trick which makes him 30/30 singles wins in the league so far this season with Nigel Stent and Andrew Hughes winning two games each both coming against Japer Turner and Harry Beer. Louis Spray had a good night playing well to beat Stent and Hughes and then teaming up with Turner to win the doubles.
Sparken Hill Falcons had a very comfortable win over DTH Redlands Red Devils not only winning 10-0 but winning all the games in straight sets. There were hat tricks all round for Jordan Potter, Mick Potter and Neil Penny who's experience told on the night against younger opponents in their first season who will only get better in time. For the record Mick and Jordan Potter beat Hodkinson and Briggs in the doubles.
