The Table Tennis-Athon on Sunday 25th February went brilliantly and I am very glad to say very smoothly! Steve Judge started the event by hitting the first ball and s pent some time beforehand telling us his inspirational story and giving our 14 players a pep talk. Then off the players went, playing continuous Table Tennis for the next 6 hours, with only a 10 minute break every hour! During this time, we had quite a few members of the public, friends and family come in to support us and to 'have a go' themselves on the spare tables, which they all really enjoyed.  Lee Banton was a real trooper as our ball person, he did not stop the whole 6 hours collecting balls and filling our tubs so we could play continuously with no stops, he did a fantastic job and all the players agree, we would not have coped without him! Also a thank you to Paul Wendon for being 'on call' and taking over for Neil Fisher at the half way point, again making everything run perfectly, Thanks Paul!!! 3pm came. I think most of the players were ready to hear the whistle to announce the end, a cheer erupted and lots of well done's! Although we were all tired, achy and worn out, we all enjoyed it and had a feeling of accomplishment.  It was a really fun day and there is talk of another one! Maybe next year.  I would like this opportunity to thank all the players involved for signing up for the Athon, getting your sponsors, for being there on the day, playing by the rules and achieving the challenge, you should all be very very proud of yourselves!! and for raising a pledged amount of £2876 for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice! Congratulations to Nick Sievewright, Mark Sansom, Chris Tilstone, James Wormwell, Andy Kirkland, Jack Kirkland, Neil Fisher, Neil Penny, Mitchell Radford, Alex Millward, Connor Bettley, Luke Barraclough and Perry Bradford (am I allowed to put myself :) ). Without you, it wouldn't have even been possible.  Also a special thank you to Alan Wilson (Dad)  for being Chief Coordinator on the day and keeping all the players on schedule for their breaks, it would have been chaos without you!& nbsp; Another massive thank you to everyone that sponsored our players, with a special mention to Mark Fisher, Rik Harris, Steve Elkin, Steve Fox and The League's Committee. Thank you everyone for being a part of a wonderful successful fundraiser for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice!

A reminder that the Table TennisAthon in aid of Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice is taking place this Sunday the 25th February at Worksop Leisure Centre.
If anyone is interested in helping us on the day or sponsoring a player then please call or text Kay Wilson on 07890429868 or email [email protected].
One further development is that Steve Judge who is a two times world champion triathlete has kindly agreed to open the table tennisathon.
Steve was involved in an horrendous car crash and was told that he may never walk again but through his grit and determination he not only got back to walking but he then went on to run again and by his sheer determination he then went on to win the World Championships for triathletes.
His story is nothing short of amazing and he will also be on hand to chat after opening the event and playing the first ball.

Just a reminder that due to Stanley Street Club not being available for the First Finals Night that was scheduled for next week in the fixture list in the handbook, we have decided to move it to Tuesday the 13th of March which is currently set aside for Divisional Trophy matches.
However, the Divisional Trophy matches that were due to be played that week have now all been moved to next week which is week commencing the 26th of February.
