As the season is about to kick off I wanted to remind all Division One players regarding the DTH Worksop Masters which will involve 6 highly ranked players currently playing in the Worksop League.
There will be £100 prize money up for grabs for the winner and to qualify a player will have had to have played in 50% of league matches in singles to be invited to play.
The Open Singles finalists will automatically qualify for the event which will be held at the end of April 2018 at Stanley Street Club with the cut-off date for qualification being the 8th of April.

Due to the leagues Sponsors (DTH Engineering) generosity the Committee have decided to fund some free coaching sessions for our Junior players that are registered with the league for the upcoming season.
We are looking at holding it at Redlands under the guidance of Paul Johnson with a 2 hour session once a month completely FREE OF CHARGE.
Before we commit Paul and ourselves to it we want to gauge what interest there is out there for it from our Junior players.
Please note that we do want a firm commitment from players as we want to ensure that not only the financial investment is worth it but also everyone's time in setting it up and carrying it out so with this in mind could Junior players or their parents please e-mail [email protected] with their interest in it.

In conjunction with Paul Johnson who runs the coaching at Redlands School the League are pleased to announce that Paul will be running a Worksop Junior League for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people in and around the Worksop area, to access some reasonably regular competitive play against players of a similar age and ability to them. For a lot of players, this may well be their first taste of competitive table tennis, and this should be an opportunity for those players to grasp at and enjoy what competitive table tennis has to offer. For those more experienced players, the league will provide some great local competition against players of a similar age and ability, which will be fantastic for their development within the sport.
The Worksop Junior League is open to boys and girls of all abilities, who live in and around Worksop and who are still at school.
The cost of the league is £20.00 per person, and this covers all 6 days of competition. The league will take place from 1.30pm – 5.00pm on the following Saturday Dates:
Saturday 16th September 2017
Saturday 21st October 2017
Saturday 18th November 2017
Saturday 6th January 2018
Saturday 24th March 2018
Saturday 14th April 2018
By registering for the league, players are making a commitment to attend all dates given above.
The format of the league will be, where possible, divisions of 5-7 players, ensuring that all players will have a minimum of 4 singles matches per day. Each match will consist of playing 3 sets where a point is awarded for each set won. After each days play, players will be promoted or relegated depending on points won in that round.
Promotion and relegation will only take place across the first 4 rounds, thereafter the divisions will be fixed. The final days play in April will determine the Worksop Junior League champions from each division trophies being awarded at the Worksop League's Presentation Night in May 2018.
All matches will be played at the following address: Redlands Table Tennis Centre
Crown Street, Worksop,  S80 1TH
For all enquiries on the league, please to contact Paul Johnson who's details are below and not myself.
You can download an entry form from the downloads page on the website.
Please make cheques payable to Paul Johnson and post forms back to him:
Paul Johnson, 30 Morton Terrace, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. DN21 2RQ. Paul is  also quite happy for forms to be handed back to him too.
Deadline for payment and final entries is Friday 8th September 2017.

This year we have decided to run all the Divisional Handicap Trophy matches with group stages with the winners of each group meeting in the final.
The groups will be split into two groups of four teams but as both Division One and Division Two have 9 teams in them there will have to be one preliminary round game to qualify for the group stages and to leave us with two equal groups of 4 teams.
There is no specific week in the fixture list for the preliminary game so we are giving the teams involved as much notice as possible.
The matches need to be played between the beginning of Novemnber and the end of December to allow players to have played sufficient league games to get a true individual average to make the handicapping as fair as possible.
Can the home team captains contact the away team captains to arrange the game.
David Hooton Trophy
Stanley Street 'A' v DTH Redlands Roosters
Reg Wilcox Trophy
Sparken Hill Blue Jays v DTH Redlands Rookies
Score sheets will be sent out in due course.
