Results from all of yesterdays events at the Annual Closed Championships for 21/22 are now availalbe on the 'Championship' page of this website.
Annual Championships
A great day was had at the first Annual Championships we have been able to hold in three seasons. Although the full list of results across 15 different events will be published over the next day or two on the Championship page of the website, the standard of play and the spirit within which all events were played are worthy of a quick mention here.
Entrants to the events included all ages and both male and femal players. It is one of the special features of our championships, and indeed our leagues and cup competitions that players of all abilities, ages, and gender compete against each other.
The Juniors who took part in events specific to their own age group and events open to all ages were a credit to the game. They all performed exceptionally well against more experienced senior players in a number of events. Only three female players entered the championshipos and they more than held their own against their male counterparts. Indeed, as will be seen from the results, Lea Dickinson proved too good for all the male senior players in her path towards the final of the Open Singles which will be played in March against Terry Emmerson who defeated Richard Element in what was a compelling semi-final of great quality - there is a good final in store!
Not to be out done, the more senior players produced quality performances not only in open singles and doubles events but also in the Veterans 40+, 50+ and 60+ events, proving that no one is too old to not only enjoy a game of table tennis but to also be able to play to a very high standards reagrdless of age!
Thanks to all of the players who made this year's championships a very special event and we look forward to the finals of the events in March.
