Double Trouble For Roosters Title Challenge

The Christmas break didn't do DTH Redlands Roosters any favours in their quest for the Division One title as they lost one and drew one of the first two league games of the New Year. Their first game after the festive break was at home against Manton Misfits who are in a relegation battle and desperately needed the points to stay clear of the bottom two places and when Steve Lyon and Terry Emmerson both hit top form the win never looked in doubt. Lyon and Emmerson went on to register hat tricks over Rick Harris, Steve Fox and Dave Gascoyne with Ian Henderson also adding two wins himself losing to Steve Fox. Fox and Gascoyne took the doubles against Lyon and Emerson but it was too little too late as the Roosters were soundly beaten 8-2.
In their second game against their club colleagues the Joggers they could…full report »

Eagles And Nomads Look Odds On For Promotion

Ryton Park Eagles and Manton Nomads look like firm favourites to grab the two promotion places to Division One this season after both teams had convincing 9-1 away wins this week to open up an 8 point gap to the chasing pack.
The Eagles had a comfortable night of it at DTH Redlands Rookies with hat tricks for both John Hallgarth and Keith Swift whilst Alex Olliffe chipped in with two wins losing out to Derek Piper who will be pleased with his win over Olliffe who currently sits in 5th place in the leading averages in Division Two. Olliffe and Hallgarth then teamed up to take the doubles against Brown and Cowburn to  crown their night.
Manton Nomads who are currently head Division Two by 6 points were away at Stanley Street 'B' who were without their best player and team captain Nigel Stent which proved to…full report »

Stanley Street 'D' Blow Division Three Title Race Wide Open

After beating one of the teams above them last week Division Three side Stanley Street 'D' repeated the same feat again this week and by doing so dragged themselves back into the promotion race. After defeating DTH Redlands Tarr Babies last time out they were faced with the daunting task of overcoming the league leaders Stanley Street Rascals who had previously only lost one league game all season. Street D's task was made all the more easier when the Rascal's third player didn't turn up which meant that they were already 3-0 ahead before a ball was struck. Thomas Gladwin and Harry Downing, the two Rascals players that did turn up may have wished they hadn't as both of them lost to all three of the Street 'D' players in Andrew Agnew, Glyn Williams and Lee Webb to leave themselves 9-0 down and facing a whitewash but all credit to…full report »

Magnificent McIntosh Rescues Toys From Jaws Of Defeat

Although last week in the fixture list was Carnation Cup week some teams decided to catch up on cancelled league games from earlier in the season. Two such teams were club colleagues and Division One title rivals DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys and DTH Redlands Roosters who played out a terrific 5-5 draw with The Toys being indebted to young Tom McIntosh who had a fantastic night and capped a fine week personally for him as he was also voted Bassetlaw U14 Sportsman Of The Year!. McIntosh was playing alongside more experienced team mates in Richard and Tom Wesley but turned out to be his teams saviour with a very impressive hat trick which was made even more impressive when you consider that Richard Wesley who has hasn't lost more than one game per season for the many a season only managed to win one game on the night. McIntosh defeated…full report »

After all 7 pairings had played each other the semi-finalists had been decided with Kartik Lakhani & Andy Kirkland up against Steve Elkin & Keith Smith and Andy Lee & Mark Bloomer against John Hallgarth & Clive Eden.
