Element Switches On To Take Open Singles Title
Richard Element overcame Tom McIntosh to win the Worksop & District Open Singles in his first ever season in the league. Element showed all his skill and experience to defeat McIntosh at the Championship Finals Night held at Stanley Street Club and he was rarely troubled throughout. Element won in straight sets but it surely won't be too long before McIntosh has his own name on the trophy.
The Open Singles wasn't the only Final that Element was involved in as he had also made the Final of the Draw Doubles with names of the four finalists been drawn out on the night. Element was drawn to play with Andy Lee leaving their opponents Kalpesh Bhatt and Dave Marsh as second favourites but Bhatt and Marsh didn't let that worry them and despite losing in straight sets could have taken the match all the way going down 11-8, 11-9,…full report »
Fluffy Toys Close In On Division One Title
DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys are now only one win away from retaining the Division One title after defeating their closest rivals MBE. Toy's Richard Wesley was the Player Of The Match returning solid wins over Andrew Cave, Dave Marsh and Stuart Element to set his team up for a win that leaves them a massive 10 points ahead of their opponents. Both Tom McIntosh who is having a fabulous season and Tom Wesley both beat Cave and Marsh but couldn't get past a stubborn Stuart Element who beat them both to register MBE's only wins on the night with the Wesley brothers beating Cave and Marsh in the doubles to secure an 8-2 win.
In the battle to avoid the dreaded drop into Division Two Stanley Street 'A' did themselves a power of good with two wins within a week to move themselves away from the bottom two relegation…full report »
Tarr Babies Quest For Promotion Dealt A Blow
DTH Redlands Tarr Babies push to finish in the top two promotion places of Division Three were dealt a setback this week as they suffered a narrow 6-4 defeat to Stanley Street 'E' who sat a massive 24 points behind the Tarr Babies in the league before their match. Street 'E' didn't let a few points between themselves and the Tarr Babies bother them as they soon swept into a 4-1 lead as both Matt Turner and Tai Chen won their opening two games and it wasn't long before they both completed their hat tricks against Jack Tarr, Greg Suchalski and Adam Pinches. The improving Jasper Turner fought hard against the Tarr Babies trio but couldn't quite defeat any of them and despite Suchalski and Pinches winning the doubles against Chen and Jasper Turner they couldn't stop the Tarr Babies slipping to a narrow 6-4 defeat.

Budworth Fires Nomads To Promotion
Jayden Budworth's impressive hat trick against Stanley Street 'C' helped secure the win and the 3 points Manton Nomads required to clinch promotion to Division One. In a hard fought match Budworth was the star of the show as she defeated all three Riauba brothers Martynas, Orestas and Valentinas with some fabulous attacking table tennis and her three wins were the perfect base for the Nomads to go on and win the match. Despite Budworth's hat trick the Nomads didn't have it all their own way as Orestas defeated Rob Vaughan and Steve Elkin lost in a terrific 5 set thriller to Valentinas but that was Street 'C's lot as Elkin and Vaughan clinched the doubles in straight sets to secure an 8-2 win and with it a place in Division One next season.

It's Elementary For McIntosh On Finals Night
Tom McIntosh was in his element on the first of the Leagues Championship Finals Night held at Stanley Street Club as he beat the much fancied Richard Element in the final of the Handicap Singles. McIntosh was given 4 start in a best of 3 up to 21 match and he soon set about his task taking the first set 21-16 but Element hit back to take the second set 24-22 which took the match into a deciding set which ebbed and flowed throughout before McIntosh won it by the narrowest of margins 21-19.
It wasn't long before Element had a chance to gain revenge on McIntosh as he and his partner Dave Marsh faced Tom and his older brother Kyle in the final of the Open Doubles with Element and Marsh proving to have too much for the McIntosh brothers taking the title 3-1.
