Joggers Win Keeps Them In The Running For Title
DTH Redlands Joggers kept themselves in the reckoning for the Division Two title with a narrow 6-4 victory over bottom side Manton Sports who can count themselves a little unfortunate not to snatch a draw. The Joggers had a Lea Dickinson hat trick to thank for eventually getting them over the line as her teammates Lewis Comley and Matthew Mudd found the going a little difficult against the more experienced Manton Sports trio. Captain John Lowde led the fight for Sports managing to beat both Comley and Mudd with the game against Mudd ending up being a 5 set grueller before Lowde finally managed to beat his much younger opponent. Both Phil Fisher and Keith Smith managed solo wins to leave Sports 5-4 down going into the all important doubles rubber. Dickinson for the Joggers and Lowde for Sports both surprisingly sat out the doubles leaving Smith and Fisher to…full report »
Who Will Win The Race To The Division Three Title?
The battle for the Division Three title has now turned into a three horse race with DTH Redlands Tarr Babies currently sat in the box seat after starting 2014 in the same manner as they finished 2013, with a 10-0 win. Their victims on this occasion were Ryton Park Falcons and despite the efforts of the Falcons trio of Jordan Potter and brothers Nathan and Regan Langley they couldn't stop the onslaught by The Tarr Babies with only two of the ten matches not being won in straight sets. All three Tarr Babies in Daniel Cutts, Kieran Tutter and Antony Coupe were on top form returning maximums with the latter, Antony Coupe maintaining his 100% league record so far this season. The win for the Tarr Babies gives them a 4 point lead at the top of the table after their closest rivals Stanley Street 'C' also had a convincing…full report »
Can Anyone Stop The Fluffy Toys?
DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys unbeaten start to the season continued this week as they made it eight straight league wins in a row in Division One without reply. Captain Steve Walker was on song in a comfortable 7-3 win against Global Marble 'A' registering his 4th hat trick of the season whilst being well supported by Steve Fox and Peter Cowburn who each won two games each. The only success for Global came via Steve Lyon who beat both Fox and Cowburn and the doubles which was conceded. Both Kartik Lakhani and Rob Vaughan who had to play up from Division Two due to Global being short on numbers this week didn't manage to win a game between them and if the Fluffy Toys continue in this form they could have the league title sewn up by the end of January!

Stanley Street 'B' Get Promotion Push Back On The Right Road
After getting knocked off top spot last week after losing to Ryton Park Eagles, Stanley Street 'B' climbed back up to the summit of Division Two with a narrow victory over DTH Redlands X-Youth. Kyle McIntosh was the hero for Stanley Street as his maximum was the backbone of their victory especially as X-Youth pushed them all the way but for the umpteenth time this season found themselves on the end of a 6-4 defeat. McIntosh was well backed up by Paul Linfield who added a double losing out to Matt Turner in 4 very close sets. Turner also beat Matthew Williams as did Clive Eden and Mark Bloomer to leave the game delicately poised 5-4 in Street's favour going into the doubles. Mcintosh and Linfield paired up to do battle with Eden and Turner and what a battle it was going to 5 sets before the Stanley Street duo…full report »
Stanley Street 'C' Climb To The Top Of Division Three
A hard fought win against club colleagues Stanley Street Cypriots helped Stanley Street 'C' leap frog their rivals in the title race to go to the top of Division Three whilst maintaining their unbeaten start to the season. When the Cypriots turned up with only two players Stanley Street 'C' could have been forgiven in thinking that they were in for a comfortable night but a comfortable night is far from what they got as the Cypriot's Adam Hamilton turned up with along with his top form to very nearly snatch his side an unlikely point. On a night of that saw some great table tennis it was also a night that also saw Andy Kirkland lose his 100% record as Hamilton beat him in a 5 set thriller, he also took 5 sets to beat Glyn Williams whilst sweeping aside Alan McGinlay in straight sets. Tom Parker also beat…full report »
