Cutts And Tutter Lead The Way For Tarr Babies
DTH Redlands Tarr Babies Kieran Tutter and Daniel Cutts both have 100% records in Division Three and are spearheading their teams assault on the Division Three Title. In their latest match both Cutts and Tutter registered their 4th maximum in a row to leave their opponents Stanley Street Cypriots well and truly beaten. Josh Nelson added two wins before the Tarr Babies won the doubles to run out 9-1 winners and moves them 2 points clear at the top of the table but they can now expect some tougher matches against teams around them at the top.
The Tarr Babies club colleagues and title rivals The Rookies could only manage a draw against Stanley Street 'C' and dropped 2 points behind the league leaders with Stanley Street's Andy Kirkland proving to be the thorn in the Rookies side as he beat all the three Rookies players Derek Piper, Cauis…full report »
Nothing Between Early Leaders In Division Two
The early signs are that the race for the Division Two title will be an intriguing one to say the very least with a three way tie at the top. Stanley Street 'B' look to be in good form and are certainly amongst the favourites for promotion after they maintained their 100% record with another 8-2 win, this time against Manton Sports. Street's Paul Linfield continued his fine start to the season with another maximum and he was well supported by both Matt Williams and Kyle McIntosh who both won two games each and then teamed up to take the doubles. Alan Wilson and Phil Fisher each won one for Sports with Wilson having a good win over McIntosh.
Ryton Park Eagles also look like being in the mix for promotion, especially if they can play their strongest side every match and this showed with two 6-4 wins inside…full report »
Stanley Street Are Early Leaders In Division One
Newly promoted Stanley Street 'A' came through a tough encounter against MBE to make themselves early leaders in Division One. Despite a fabulous hat trick from MBE's Mark Stanfield Stanley Street did enough to grind out a 6-4 victory and take all three points in a very close match. Peter Eyre and new signing Joe Zygadlo won two sets each for Stanley Street both managing to beat Andrew Cave and Dave Marsh and when Dave Hodgkin also beat Marsh it left the match delicately poised at 5-4 to Stanley Street with just the doubles left to play. Eyre and Zygadlo teamed up against MBE's Marsh and Stanfield and despite losing the first game they managed to take the next three in a row to cement victory and to leave Stanley Street 'A' perched on the top of the division.
In another Division One match that also went down to…full report »
Rookies Kick Off New Season With A Perfect 10
DTH Redlands Rookies started their Division Three campaign against Ryton Park Falcons in fabulous style by whitewashing their younger opponents. The Rookies trio of Derek Piper, Bob Atkinson and Alan Keeling took little time in brushing aside their much younger and less experienced opponents winning every singles game in straight sets with only the doubles match going to four sets. The Falcons team of Jak Eden, Regan Langley and Jordan Potter battled gamely all night but on this occasion couldn't trouble their opponents.
Another team in Division Three to make a perfect start are one of the title favourites DTH Redlands Tarr Babies who in previous years have come close to winning their division on more than one occasion. They took no time at all in sweeping aside last season's Centre For Sport side who have a new venue and a new team name and are now called On-Line…full report »
X-Youth Secure League And Cup Double
Division Three Champions DTH Redlands X-Youth crowned a highly successful season with the addition of The MBE Trophy and can in fact claim a 'clean sweep' of the Third Division competitions having already had players win the individual singles and doubles titles at the Annual Championships. In the MBE Trophy Final they were up against club colleagues DTH Redlands Rookies and although they were firm favourites the handicap system has proved in the past to be a great leveller. X-Youth's Clive Eden led the way returning maximum points and with both Jeff Reay and Mark Bloomer only being a few points behind it proved to be too much of a gap to close for the Rookies despite gaining 61 points through the handicap points system. For The Rookies Bob Atkinson, Daniel Cutts and Derek Piper all battled hard but just couldn't get enough points on the board to stop X-Youth…full report »
