Stanley Street On The Brink Of Title

Division Two side Stanley Street 'A' have all but secured the Division Two title and with it a return to the top division at the first time of asking. Despite only being able to field two players in their match with Manton Sports they still had too much fire power for a spirited Manton side. Peter Eyre did what he's done in every league match this season and won all his three games and he was joined by Paul Linfield who also remained unbeaten although he did need 5 sets to defeat Keith Smith. Both Eyre and Linfield eased past the other Sports players in John McClellan and Phil Fisher without any trouble and then teamed up in the doubles to beat Smith and Fisher in straight sets to win the match 7-3. This result  now means that they would have to lose all their remaining 3 matches and second…full report »
