Miners Welfare Extend Unbeaten Run
Worksop Miners Welfare continued their fine start to the season by beating their club colleagues Worksop Welfare Snipers 8-2. The Miners Welfare side have now won all three of their games in Division One and have opened up a lead at the top of the division. Their latest win came courtesy of hat tricks for both Chris Cattell and Richard Element who was making his first appearance of the season. The Miners Welfares third player Phil Walton chipped in with a win over Russ Webster but lost to both Erlands Skels and Pete Hodgson. Cattell and Element then teamed up to beat Skels and Hodgson in the doubles to complete their win.
The only other game in Division One this week saw Stanley Street ‘A’ keep in touch with the leaders by winning away at Clowne ‘B’. Fine hat tricks for both Alex Millward and Terry Emmerson over James…full report »
Hawks Prey On Pigeons To Go Top
Sparken Hill Hawks whitewashed Sparken Hill Pigeons this week to soar to the top of the Division three table to be the early leaders of the division. The Pigeons trio of Zak Berridge, Harry Stott and Sam Liversidge battled hard but were unable to trouble the Hawks team. Wendon and Pinches took the doubles against Berridge and Liversidge to complete the scoring for the Hawks.

Eagles Perched On Top Of Division Two
Sparken Hill Eagles have made the perfect start to their Division Two campaign and are the early leaders of Division Two. Their latest win came against Worksop Welfare Harriers B and as in their first match, they won it 10-0 and therefore have yet to drop a set so far. There were hat tricks all round for Brain Allen, Chris Tilstone and John Hallgarth with Allen and Hallgarth taking the doubles. The Harriers B side can take some consolation in the fact that they did play well and could have easily taken a couple of the closer games as Tilstone took 5 games to beat Dan Saul as did Allen to beat Dave Lyus.
Another side with two wins from two are Manton Tigers who this week dispatched their club colleagues Manton Sports 8-2 with Bill Bateman and Dave Bowns leading the way with fine hat-trick of wins over…full report »
Starlings And Clowne Kick New Season Off
Sparken Hill Starlings and Clowne ‘B’ got the new Worksop & District Table Tennis league season underway at Sparken Hill on Tuesday night. The Starlings Division One campaign didn’t start well for them as they struggled to field a full strength team and had to play two players up from Division Three in Connor Bettley and Luke Barraclough whilst Clowne ‘B’ welcomed two new signings in Jeff Reay and Simon Chatterton. Clowne’s other Kalpesh Bhatt was the Player Of The Match as he beat Bettley, Barraclough and Andy Lee. Bettley and Barraclough were dispatched comfortably enough but beating Lee took some doing. Bhatt was 2-0 down before he came storming back to win the next three games 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 to complete his hat trick. Lee did have success against Reay and Chatterton with his win over Chatterton also going to 5 sets but on this occasion Lee managed to…full report »
