Real North Notts 'A' Finally Off The Mark

The New Boys in Division Two Real North Notts  'A' earned their first point of the season this week in a real battle with Manton Tigers. Despite the Tigers Ron Firth registering a very solid hat trick Real North Notts managed to come away with a very creditable draw against much more experienced  opponents. Dave Piper set Notts on their way with good wins over Bill Bateman and Steve Beeston with both of his team mates Jonno Blood and Lewis Linacre also defeating Beeston and once Piper and Linacre won the doubles against Bateman and Firth the draw was secured. However, despite gaining their first point of the season that still remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Blue Jays Continue Unbeaten Run

Sparken Hill Blue Jays kept their 100% record intact in Division Three this week with an 8-2 win away at new boys to the league Real North Notts 'B'. The back bone to their victory was an Ivan Stallworthy hat trick who despite being taken to 4 sets on two occasions never looked in any real trouble. Stallworthy was well supported by his team mates Connor Bettley and Dave Rix who both had two wins each, both over Tom Ogley and Jerry Collins but they couldn't repeat the feat against Glen Gillgrass who beat them both to register the only wins for his Real North Notts team. Rix and Stallworthy completed the scoring by taking the doubles.
Current league leaders Worksop Welfare Cypriots 'A' were also in action this week but they were involved in a much closer match which they eventually managed to win by a 6-4 margin.…full report »

Battle Of The Basement Ends In Stalemate

The bottom two sides in Division One met this week with both of them looking to have one of over one each other to try and climb away from the relegation trap door. Stanley Street 'A' probably went into the match as slight favourites against their opponents DTH Redlands Monsters and made the brighter start with Peter Eyre defeating Orestas Riauba to put Street 'B' into an early lead. It was a lead that didn't last long as Martynas Riauba defeated Dave Hodgkin followed by his brother Valentinas beating Alex Millward to put the Monsters in front. Their lead was further enhanced when Orestas also defeated Hodgkin to put the Monsters 3-1 in front to leave Stanley Street in a spot of bother. Eyre and Millward the won their next singles games against Valentinas and Martynas respectively to square the contest at 3 games all. The doubles game was up…full report »

Joggers Run Into Trouble

DTH Redlands Joggers who before this week's round of league matches were sitting on the top of Division Two having won all their three opening league games and must of been dreaming of winning the Division Two title. That was until their club colleagues DTH Redlands X-Youth popped up to turn their dream into a nightmare as they gave them a right old thumping by white washing them 10-0! There were hat tricks all round for the X-Youth trio of Matt Turner, Clive Eden and Jeff Reay in a match that the X-Youth controlled from start to finish. The Joggers Kyle McIntosh did manage to take Turner to 5 sets as did Lewis Comley against Eden but apart from that the match was pretty much a one sided affair. Turner and Reay also added the doubles beating McIntosh and Matthew Mudd to put the icing on the cake of what…full report »

Cypriots Early Leaders In Division Three

Worksop Welfare Cypriots 'A' have made a great start to their Division Three campaign winning all three of their first three matches. Their latest victory came against Worksop Owls who find themselves languishing at the wrong end of the table and were always going to struggle against the league leaders. For the Cypriots side Farhad Saiepour was player of the match winning all his three singles games and also having a hand in winning the doubles with his team mate Andrew Hughes. Hughes added two singles wins of his own beating both Finlay Coburn and Louis Spray but he lost in 5 sets to Jasper Turner who also beat Kay Wilson in 5 sets.
