Eagles Start To Climb High In Division Two

Division Two side Ryton Park Eagles have started to move up the Division Two table this week after two good results - one on the table and one off it. In a very tight match against Manton Tigers they had to come back from being 3-1 down to snatch a dramatic draw which at one stage looked very unlikely as Tigers Paul Allison had hit top form, comfortably beating all three Eagles players and with Steve Beeston chipping in with two wins it left the Eagles in the position of only being able to tie the match. For the Eagles Gary Scott managed to beat Beeston and Phil Hall and after both Carl Stones and Keith Swift also beat Hall it came down to the doubles set to decide the outcome of the match. For the Eagles Stones and Swift teamed up against the Tigers duo of Alison and Beeston…full report »

Marble On A Roll As Unbeaten Run Continues

Division One side Global Marble continue to upset the odds and reached the dizzy heights of being  top of Division One albeit for only for 48 hours. Their latest win came in what turned out to be a strange game against Ryton Park Bees who were at one point leading 2-0 and looking like they would cause an upset themselves. Veteran Brian Allen who played all his three games straight off and then leaving  had beaten both Rob Vaughan and Kerry Radford before just losing out to Kartik Lakhani to leave the Bees 2-1 in front. Vaughan then went on to play Joe Else and with the set poised at one game all Else reached for a ball and injured his back and despite bravely trying to carry on in the third game he was unable to complete it. He then had to concede his other two matches and as…full report »

Toys Kick Off Their Title Defence With A Win

Last year's Division One Champions DTH Redlands Fluffy Toys started the defence of their title with a comprehensive away win over relegation candidates Ryton Park Addders. Despite the Toys being without last season's Open Singles winner Richard Wesley due to a broken hand they still managed to comfortably slip past the Adders with ease. Team captain Steve Walker showed the way with a fine hat trick and not to be outdone Steve Fox also weighed in with a three wins as well. Although the match was a little closer than the score line suggested only Mike Nocivelli managed to win a set for the Adders when he overcame Tom Wesley in 5 sets but neither Andy Lee or John Hallgarth could trouble the scores on this occasion. Fox and Walker teamed up to comfortably win the doubles set against Nocivelli and Hallgarth.
